JUST IN: Why there is no third-place play-off match for Euro 2024

UEFA decided against holding a third-place play-off for Euro 2024.
Players, coaches, and spectators would all rather be in the championship game, and the third-place playoff is frequently seen as the one they don’t want to be in. A bronze medal is awarded for winning, but there aren’t many further benefits.
The losing semi-finalists from this year will not compete in Germany. Following the 1980 tournament, UEFA first eliminated the third-place playoff due to a decline in attendance and broadcast ratings.
