The Kano State Hisbah Board has commenced implementation of a court directive mandating the marriage of two popular TikTok personalities, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda, within 60 days, following their involvement in viral videos considered “indecent” by authorities.

Confirming the development, the Deputy Commander General of the Hisbah Board, Sheikh Mujahid Aminudeen, said the agency has begun preparations to ensure compliance with the order issued by the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board.

According to him, the board has reached out to its Zamfara State counterpart to contact the bride’s parents, who are expected to act as representatives during the marriage ceremony.

Sheikh Aminudeen disclosed that both TikTokers have been subjected to a series of medical screenings, including drug tests, genotype, and HIV examinations, to confirm their health status and compatibility.

He added that arrangements concerning the dowry, accommodation, and other logistics for the couple were being finalised to ensure the wedding takes place within the 60-day period stipulated by the court.

It will be recalled that the duo were recently arraigned in court for allegedly producing and circulating obscene content on social media. Mai Wushirya was earlier remanded in a correctional facility after videos showing him engaging in what authorities described as “immoral and demeaning acts” with the female content creator went viral.

Sheikh Aminudeen reaffirmed the Hisbah Board’s commitment to promoting morality and curbing social vices in Kano State, warning residents against the creation or distribution of indecent materials online.

He also hinted at an upcoming mass wedding initiative to be supported by the Kano State Government, aimed at promoting decency, moral conduct, and helping financially constrained couples formalise their unions.
