Kauru Emirate Distance Self From Agitation For New Gurara State

Kauru Emirate Consultative Initiative in Kaduna state has distance itself from the ongoing agitation for the creation of new Gurara state.

The forum has however support the agitation of new Kaduna state which Kauru emirate is rightful belongs.

In a Press conference held in Zaria, the chairman of the forum Isah Mukhtar said the emirate is aware of series of meetings and consultation by individuals and associations in Southern Kaduna which drew the Kauru emirate into the proposed agitation.

The Chairman stated categorically that “Kauru emirate council is not and will not be part of the new Gurara state.

“We the entire people of Kauru emirate wish to re emphasize as inter-earlier stated in all our submissions in written or verbally that Kauru emirate are not against the agitation of Gurara state to the people who have common interest, socio-political and cultural affiliation etc.

“But Kauru emirate council are not and will not be part of the new Gurara state.” He stated.

Mukhtar noted that initially belong to the northern zone of the state untill in 1993 when the area was wrongly moved to the Southern zone.

He said Kauru emirate was historically part of and answerable to the Zazzau emirate before the misplacement.

“Our culture, tradition, religion and values are all in tandem with the northern part of the state. We however do not have anything in common with communities agitating for the new Gurara state.

“We therefore wish the agitators well, but do not want to belong to the new state, but rather continue to remain in the proposed new Kaduna state.

The Chairman stressed that belonging to the new Gurara state will mean complete dominance and total marginalization of Kauru emirate politically, economically and socially.
