Kidnaps-To-Currency: The government denies paying ransom but on what ground are the kidnapped victims being released? -By Issa Babatunde Ahmed

The pervasive reign of terror in the country is at its peak with the value of human life reduced to nothing; despite being the capital for poverty, Nigeria still find a way to pay its political office holders exorbitantly which raises the eyebrow on how the country is run and managed with too much spent on administrators and peanuts shared in allocations.

What stuns many about the reckless behaviour is how our leaders are able to completely ignore consequences of abnormalities in the country; security presence is next to nothing, horrific aggression of law enforcement agents and coordinated kidnapping of children in large number becoming a norm by different terrorist groups.

It all started in 2014 with 276 Chibbok female students abducted by terrorist group Boko Haram on the government’s watch and yet noting ever changes to prevent or anticipate these kidnappings as different criminal groups referred to as Bandits now take turns to kidnap and ask for ransom, over eight hundred students have been kidnapped under the present administration from Dapchi 110 to Kankara 340 and recently Jangebe 300 students in Zamfara. Though the government denies paying ransom but on what ground are the kidnapped victims being released remains not a mystery but a rhetorical question.

The ministry of banditry abducting is booming with three abductions in the last three months, without interference or engagement with security agencies shows the criminals are doing everything right and the government doing everything wrong, from failing to protect its citizens  and also negotiating with criminals, definitely encouraging the criminal act especially when it comes with a reward coming from a government that branded End SARS protest as an act of terrorism while Graduates are asked to tap into the N-power program, five thousand naira program, Tradermoni, or go into farming where the herdsmen are also waiting for them to be dealt with

The international media community are being sceptical as they can clearly see through our governments, this reckless normal, allowing terrorists tagged bandits to work freely into schools and abduct large group of children with no police or army never in their way screams foul play on the part of the government as well. Scripted or not, the unending barbarian acts against the innocent children  are a heinous violation of human rights fuelled by corruption which does not only have psychological impact on the innocent children but also deny them the opportunity to get education without fear and disruptions.

Nigeria politicians are the richest in the country without an iota structure of wealth creation, just an organized crime syndicates looting the country and those closest to them in wealth are either a friend or family, there is always a political influence to their success as they only employ loyalists and influence policies that enriches themselves without a care if it impoverishes the masses with all civic space shrinking every minute especially the need to silence voices of the masses and those with so much influence in the country keep observing their table manners, you can’t be talking and eating on this table, Alas Covid-19 got them keeping their social distance from topical issues.

Shutdowns of educational institutions due to insecurity mean Boko is really haraming, the frequency of insurgencies is meant to instil fear and halt activities. The fact that the terrorist keeps kidnapping and releasing victims successfully shows the method employed by the government is either empowering, encouraging or enlarging the coast of the criminals which why it is baffling because it is inevitably encouraging and recruiting potential criminals. The government might have successfully banned crypto currency but have influenced Kidnaps-to-currency.
