Kirikiri Customs Rakes in N89.2bn Revenue in First Half of 2025
Comptroller Edelduok reiterated the command’s commitment to engaging stakeholders through open communication, inter-agency collaboration, and compliance-driven facilitation of trade.
63% increase driven by operational reforms, improved compliance – Edelduok
The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reported a total revenue collection of N89.2 billion from January to June 2025, marking a significant 63% increase compared to the N54.8 billion generated during the same period in 2024.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Customs Area Controller of KLT, Comptroller Eghosa Edelduok, attributed the impressive growth to focused reforms, targeted enforcement, and enhanced compliance strategies.
“During the period under review, the command recorded a total revenue collection of N89.2bn. This figure represents a substantial increase compared to what was collected within the period under review in 2024, which stood at N54.81bn. The difference of N34.4bn reflects a 63 per cent growth, demonstrating the command’s enhanced operational efficiency and improved compliance levels,” Edelduok stated.
She emphasized that the command’s efforts in reforming internal processes and deploying practical enforcement strategies had translated into measurable success and bolstered the terminal’s ability to deliver on its mandate.
Anti-Smuggling Successes
Highlighting the command’s anti-smuggling operations, Edelduok said the KLT maintained a strict posture of alertness, discipline, and zero tolerance for infractions.
She revealed that enforcement officers intercepted two 40-foot containers filled with expired pharmaceutical products, with a duty paid value of N130 million.
“The items contravene the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 and other import laws. The command has handed them over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for necessary action,” she said, adding that the command would continue to apply the law without compromise to safeguard public health and uphold professionalism.
Stakeholder Engagement and Future Outlook
Comptroller Edelduok reiterated the command’s commitment to engaging stakeholders through open communication, inter-agency collaboration, and compliance-driven facilitation of trade.
She thanked stakeholders and partner agencies for their continued support, describing their contributions as vital to the effective implementation of the command’s responsibilities and the broader national economic agenda.
“The command remains dedicated to the diligent discharge of its statutory responsibilities in alignment with the broader goals of national security, economic growth, and service excellence,” Edelduok affirmed.
