Kogi Govt Vows to Rescue All Victims of Ejiba Church Abduction Alive
The Kogi State government says security agencies and local vigilantes have launched a manhunt for the gunmen who abducted a pastor, his wife, and others during worship in Ejiba, assuring citizens that all victims will be rescued alive.
The Kogi State Government has launched an intensive manhunt for armed bandits who attacked the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejiba, Yagba West LGA, abducting the pastor, his wife, and an unconfirmed number of worshippers during Sunday service.
Confirming the incident, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, said security agencies and local vigilante structures have already swung into action.
“Yes, I have information to that effect, and I am also aware that the security network, comprising the conventional security agencies and the local security architecture, is currently doing what they should do,” Fanwo stated.
He added that the Yagba West Local Government authorities are working closely with security operatives to ensure the safe return of all victims.
“The authorities of Yagba West Local Government Council are working hard with the security agencies to ensure those kidnapped are rescued alive. The perpetrators, too, already know that Kogi will do everything possible to secure every one of its citizens abducted,” he said.
Fanwo also disclosed that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is directly coordinating the rescue efforts.
“The Governor of the State, His Excellency Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo, is coordinating activities, and we will keep the press updated on the operations,” he assured.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities.
“We urge the citizens to be security-conscious and also report suspicious movement and faces to security agencies. When you see something, say something.”
Fanwo further advised worship centres located in isolated areas to reconsider holding services there until the security situation improves.
