Lagos tragedy - building collapse and fire outbreak

Two people, including an adult and a teenager, have died, while five others sustained injuries after a two-storey building under construction collapsed in Lagos.

The incident occurred at Mega Mall Estate, Mobile Road, Inikpa Villa, Ikota, Ajah.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed the incident, with its Lagos Office Coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye, stating that the immediate cause of the collapse remains unknown.

“Information indicates that more people are likely trapped in the rubble. Search and rescue operation is ongoing. Investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of collapse,” Farinloye said.
