In a deeply emotional revelation, Major General Umaru Ibrahim Muhammed (retired) has shared the heart-wrenching details of General Idris Alkali’s puzzling disappearance in 2018. Major General Muhammed, who was tasked by the Nigerian Army to lead the search and rescue operation, testified as the main witness in front of the Jos high court, shedding light on a story that has captured the nation’s attention.

The story begins with General Alkali journey from Abuja to Bauchi in 2018. His last contact was near Dura-Du village in Jos South. After that, his family couldn’t reach him, and they declared him missing on September 3, 2018. The Nigerian Army, under Major General Muhammed’s leadership, began a mission to find General Alkali, locate his black Toyota Corolla (with the license plate MUN 679 AA), and uncover the truth behind his disappearance.

The search faced challenges, including initial resistance from the local community, but the team’s determination prevailed. After several tough weeks, they found Alkali car submerged in a pond. Inside the car, they discovered his uniform and personal items. But there was more to the pond than expected; other vehicles, including those of individuals who had been missing for years, were also found.

A significant breakthrough came when a suspect confessed, leading to the discovery of a shallow grave where General Alkali’s remains were initially buried. A renowned pathologist later confirmed that his body had been brutally dismembered.

The revelation, along with the identification of the remains, marks a heartbreaking chapter in this story. Major Arashinga Bulus, another witness, confirmed the arrests of 21 individuals linked to General Alkali murder.
