The Islamic movement in Nigeria known as Shiites voice out that keeping silent to injustice is not helping anybody. This came after the Kaduna state government demolished 8 properties all belonging to the supporters of the Islamic movement in Kaduna state.
Sheikh Abdulhamid Bello the representative of the Islamic movement lament in a press conference called in Zaria.
The cleric said; “this press briefing is to tell the world what happened to us this week. Especially what happened yesterday in Zaria. Before the demolition, there was a leaked memo from KASUPDA stating that they are going to destroy some buildings belong to what they termed ‘IMN’ members about 48. They started the demolition from Kaduna. Yesternight (Tuesday) at about 1 am they came to this school (Fudiyyah Zaria) and destroyed it. They went to one school in Dogarawa and destroyed it and also one in Samaru”, he said.
He further highlighted that in Samaru they shot two of their brothers who he said are now receiving medical treatment in a hospital.
“We want the world to know this injustice that has been meted on us. This is not the first time. They have been doing so”, he lamented.
Bello added; “We don’t know whether we don’t have the right to live as a Nigerian citizen in the state. We don’t have the right to have any belonging. We don’t have the right to own houses”, he questioned.
The cleric said it is a form of injustice to go to somebody’s house in the middle of the night without prior notice and destroyed his house.
“We know the laws binding the KASUPDA, they need to give notice for someone to vacate his properties. Pertaining to our case they don’t follow any of these rules and regulations they have laid down by their own hands”, he stressed.
He appeals to the public to stand against injustice; “I am appealing to the public, this injustice keeping quiet to it is not helping anybody. We have to protest and bring to notice everyone that the El-Rufai government which remains only a few days to go away and create disharmony and chaos in the state, we have to talk about it. We have to stop him”, he said.
Sheikh Abdulhamid Bello said they won’t stop in the press conference they will also take legal action on what El-Rufai did to them as they have already taken steps to stop him from continuing the demolition of their properties; “we have the right to have some belongings. What they are destroying is belong to individuals or groups. Our schools have registered with the state Education board. We have every document. We have gone to court to stop him”, He insisted.
