Major Lazer: Know No Better EP Was A Chance For Afrobeats in 2017, Regardless -By Agwuma Kingsley
Particula and generally Know No Better EP by Major Lazer did put Afrobeats on a much more influential pedestal. Shining through the bright lights and the sounds of the music which were laced good and relatable, even from every creator’s effort on Particula carried some amount of appeal which revelers cherished at the time.
Jamaican-American trio record producers Diplo, Walshy Fire, and Ape Drum knew by their band name Major Lazer, orchestrated a pensive project together with a plethora of record producers cutting across cultural rims.
Know No Better is the project, it was made from the product of cherry-picking a perfect set of creators, the project was released around 2017. While I stumbled and embraced it lately, but then, I never gave the project any chance to be on my favorite playlist, although, I’ve always fallen in love with the third track “Particula”, which was more like an African cut off the EP featuring Ice Prince, Nasty C, Patoranking, Jidenna, and DJ Maphorisa who assisted part of the project’s record production.
Meanwhile, “Particula” was a breakout off the 6-track EP that helmed both the party and club affairs coasting around West and the South African regions at the time. Particula also promoted nightlife at the time, it was a chance for Afrobeats, marking another level of its acceptance around the world, as well as the replica of every act on the song, giving back reasonable significance to Afromusic, regardless. While Ice Prince, Patoranking, DJ Maphorisa, Nasty C, and the classic gentleman Jidenna, have allowed his homely culture wave through him and his lifestyle. Well, it was yet another moment for Afrobeats.
However, Particula and generally Know No Better EP by Major Lazer did put Afrobeats on a much more influential pedestal. Shining through the bright lights and the sounds of the music which were laced good and relatable, even from every creator’s effort on Particula carried some amount of appeal which revelers cherished at the time.
Even now, Particula still rings a bell, sounding refreshing and full of life made for a listener’s pleasure anywhere, anytime. Currently, when a listener should come across Particula, he/she should recount that it’s another chance for an Afrobeat win, regardless.
