MAN to FG: Prioritize Local Contractors for Lagos Airport Fencing Under ‘Nigeria First’ Policy
In a statement released yesterday, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, Director General of MAN, emphasized that the project should adhere strictly to Executive Orders 003 and 005, which mandate priority for local content in public procurement.

Lagos, Nigeria —The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has urged the Federal Government to engage local contractors and manufacturers for the planned perimeter fencing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Nigeria First’ policy.
In a statement released yesterday, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, Director General of MAN, emphasized that the project should adhere strictly to Executive Orders 003 and 005, which mandate priority for local content in public procurement.
“It has become a matter of national interest for the contractor handling the project to ensure strict adherence to the Executive Orders 003, 005 and the imperatives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Nigeria First Policy,” Ajayi-Kadir stated.
He specifically referenced the proposed procurement of Clear Vu fencing, urging that indigenous manufacturers be given first consideration and that materials should not be imported.
“While we acknowledge the competence of the foreign manufacturer, MAN emphasises that Nigerian companies have the proven capacity and technical expertise to produce fencing materials of equal, if not superior quality that meets international standards,” he said.
MAN warned that importing fencing materials for the project would directly contradict the Nigeria First policy and result in the loss of key national benefits, including:
- Job creation for Nigerian youth and skilled workers
- Foreign exchange savings
- Increased tax revenues and government earnings
- Strengthening of Nigeria’s industrial base
- Enhanced national security through self-reliance
Ajayi-Kadir added that the fencing project offers the government an opportunity to demonstrate that the ‘Nigeria First’ agenda is more than a slogan, but a commitment to empowering local industries.
“It is not a call to influence the award of the contract, but a patriotic appeal to align procurement decisions with national interest for the collective benefit of our economy and well-being of the people,” he concluded.
