MANNA Does not Stoops On An Idle-body And DESTITUTION Is A Due Fine For Some Of Us -By Usama Abdullahi

The heading may seem too aggravating to some people while others may view it as an insult to humanity. But I doubtlessly mean it. I’ve for long come to know that many of us fail to advance in their career not because they had been disapproved by their “Bosses” or any other persons they quested for appointments from, but rather due to their inclination to idleness. Different insights into why the rate of unemployment in the country keeps ascending had been shown or inscribed. For me, the core reasons for the arisen unemployment issues in the wide world is because of our laziness toward performing the must-have tasks that will not serve as a means of livelihood to us alone but would also be a stable and gratifying share to our neighbours too.

I recall when I was a participant in a literary society, Orator Club, a couple of years. That’s during my primary school era. It happens then when one of my cronies had an oration of the “reasons behind unemployment in Nigeria”, and mine was in French verse. (See more @Orator Club, magazine 2015). The show was perfectly organized as well-read individuals attended. The Amuwo – Odofin chairperson (was not exceptional) who applauds and awarded us for such wonderful rendition. At that time, I wasn’t aware of its pureness. I thought that it was a mere oration that’s aimed for pleasure. Today, it’s known to me that is beyond. The main points we adhered to was for the government to follow some calculated steps in order to disrate its emergence rates. There is no reason to argue on these. But I shall say that it’s not the final summation for it because not everything can be done by the government. Like it’s been wisely said that “we are the captain of our destiny ” Yeah! We are. Don’t we know that we can afford our minor responsibilities without the interference of the elites? I don’t think some of us know that. I don’t think that some of us know that it’s due to hard work that the sons or daughters of the elites who we envy for occupying the seats we dreamt of.

The leaders we often criticize are the ones that spend most of their savings on their children to study oversea. They will never mind seeing their children dancing zanku at a party or doing unnecessary things. And this is a bigger lesson for us to learn from. It is certain that no sons or daughters of the rich ever stay inactive when it comes to striving for success. The rich help their children in furthering their education or actualizing their dreams not because they were well-endowed, but rather the urge they had for education and the disgusting view for ignorance. This is an achy challenge to most of us that fold our arms and sit comfortably in our parent’s hut – awaiting for manna to descends from the heaven above.

Opportunities don’t go for an idle-body, it craves for active minds. It goes for those that are willing to withstand everyday pressure. It doesn’t even approach those that sit in a group, and blab rubbish against their neighbours or friends who are tirelessly walking for a fruitful tomorrow. This is why Garko writes a heartening letter to the youth of our nation. Hence, it is as a result of laziness that many people are still crawling while others are lordly walking. Either, it’s because of the laziness that destitution became an absolute fine to some of us.

This is the reason why some of us are poverty-stricken, therefore there is no need for you to jump to conclusion that it’s their distasteful fate to be in that way, but it will be better for you to figure out a genuine motive for that awful doom of theirs. Perhaps, you will find out that it suits them because they have no interest in working for a better chance. They could be the ones running from one street to another in search of whom to quarrel with. They are mostly the ones that engage themselves in banditry in this contemporary society.

Let’s labour hard for our means of survival. For not everything could be accessed to us from the one we claimed as our godfathers. The godfathers we see today had undergone the similar trials we are into now. Neither shall wealth knock -up on your door nor shall it waits until you are grown or at the right pitch. It is never late for you to begin manual work today. Start planning your future in multiple ways. If education doesn’t aid you, then go for what you specialized in.
