Mind Restructuring: Selflessness, Sacrifice And Futuristic Tendencies -By Richard Odusanya

In the words of our revolutionary clergy and one of the most celebrated personality globally, Martin Luther king Jr. He posited thus: “…one of the great liabilities of history is that, all of many people fail to remain awake through great periods of social change. Every society has its protectors of status quo and fraternities of the indifferent who are notorious for sleeping through REVOLUTION. Today, our very survival depends on our ability to stay awake; to adjust to new ideas; to remain vigilant and to face the challenges of change.”

The attributes of selflessness which ultimately resulted in underlayment for sacrifice and godliness. These attributes are noticeable from the beginning of creation; our Lord Jesus Christ was a classic example of leadership and selflessness which encompasses true LOVE. He would have escaped from the torment, humiliation, battering, and the most horrible death on the cross, if not for the spirit of selflessness and sacrifice. He has such power that could have changed the situation in his favor, but chose to laid down his life for the restoration of humanity. No doubt that most of us may not have physically witnessed the great sacrifice and selfless attributes of our Lord Jesus Christ but the evidence of the great sacrifice is not lost on many of us, particularly the true followers of Christianity.

However, it is pertinent to mention the similarities between the one that is beyond the physical and the ones that some of us witnessed:

Martin Luther King Jr was a very good example for these painstaking exposē; he was vibrant opposition from the pulpit, he advanced humanity and led from the pulpit and on the street. He changed the cause of time; he was audacious, selfless and visionary. He paid the supreme price and ultimately cancelled the notion that the black man is unelectable. We can all see the result in the Barack Obama’s presidency.

Similarly, such disposition of selflessness, courage and sacrifice was a noticeable attributes of our wakanda hero, John Jerry Rawlings of the blessed memory. He practically laid down his life for the Ghanaian’s economy and political turnaround.

While in prison, and strangely, he owned up to his life actions that carries maximum penalties.  He pointedly told the military tribunal panel members to discharge every other person charged with him on the military action; that was certainly the height of selflessness, courage and sacrifice, eventually, the merciful God showed up, and the rest is history. He became the savior of the good people of republic of Ghana. He left behind a legacy of honesty, forthrightness, courage, sacrifice and selflessness. Today, in Ghana despite the imperfections nobody can rig election or try the shenanigans of tenor elongation. The polity is stable and the economy growing. Selflessness Sacrifice And Futuristic.

In the same vein, we saw a great deal of the grace of selflessness, courage and sacrifice in our own Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, a man of great affluence; a man with a very large heart; a great mind without border; highly detribalized Nigeria. The pillar of sport in Africa. A man that almost had whatever you can think of. He won and had a landslide victory in the June 12, 1993 election. He stood up firmly to defend the people’s mandate. He laid down his life for the democracy that we are all enjoying today. Selflessness, Sacrifice And Futuristic.

Conclusively, we owe it to the Almighty God of creation and to the benefit of humanity to lay aside all the attractions of selfish-conscious followers, unpatriotic elements that encourages dissatisfaction with the sole intent of greed and self-centered mentality. We also like to thank God for privilege and the wonderful opportunity for the role we played in actualization of June 12 as our democracy day celebration.
