The Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, has tendered his resignation following allegations of certificate forgery leveled against him.

President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the President has accepted Nnaji’s resignation.

According to Onanuga, “President Tinubu accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following some allegations against him.”

He explained that Nnaji, who was appointed in August 2023, submitted his resignation letter on Tuesday, expressing gratitude to the President “for the opportunity to serve the nation.”

The former minister reportedly described himself as a “target of blackmail by political opponents.”

“President Tinubu thanked him for his service and wished him success in his future endeavors,” Onanuga added.
