Motorcyclist Arrested in Ogun for Allegedly Killing Wife, Hiding Body in Sack

Ogun State Police have arrested a motorcyclist, Godonu Lowe, for allegedly murdering his wife and transporting her body in a sack in Ilaro. The victim showed marks of violence, and a blood-stained cutlass was recovered. Investigation is ongoing.

Police in Ogun State have arrested a commercial motorcyclist, Godonu Lowe, for allegedly murdering his wife and attempting to flee with her body concealed in a sack in the Ilaro area of Yewa South Local Government.

Lowe was intercepted on Wednesday during a routine stop-and-search operation after officers noticed a suspicious sack tied to the back of his motorcycle.

In a statement on Thursday, the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest, explaining that officers acted on “credible information” at about 1:05 p.m.

According to Odutola, the woman’s corpse showed “marks of violence” and “bleeding around the neck,” indicating possible foul play. Police also recovered a blood-stained cutlass from the scene.

The statement reads:
“On Wednesday, 19th November 2025, at about 1305hrs, the Divisional Police Officer in Ilaro received credible information that a suspected felon, Godonu Lowe ‘m’ of Omolende Village via Idogo, was transporting the corpse of an unknown woman on a motorcycle in an attempt to escape from the community.

“Acting swiftly, police operatives intercepted the suspect and a sack tied to the back of his motorcycle was untied. The content was discovered to be the corpse of an adult female, later identified as his wife.

“The body bore marks of violence, bleeding around the neck, suggesting foul play. A blood-stained cutlass was recovered at the crime scene.”

Odutola confirmed that Lowe is now in custody, while the victim’s remains have been deposited at the State Morgue in Ilaro for autopsy.

The State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, praised the anonymous informant and encouraged residents to continue providing prompt and reliable information to aid security efforts. He emphasized that “even the slightest suspicion reported to the police could save lives.”
