The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has opened an inquiry into claims that Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, offered N15 million to some of its agents in exchange for dropping money laundering accusations against him.

These allegations were made by ex-convict Bobrisky in a widely shared video, which EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede ordered investigated. VeryDarkMan, also known as Martins Vincent Otse, produced the video.

The EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the inquiry in a statement released on Tuesday night. Otse and Bobrisky were also invited to the commission’s Lagos Directorate to help determine the veracity of the accusations.

Bobrisky’s claims come after previous legal issues, including a six-month prison sentence for mutilating and spraying Naira notes at social events.

New EFCC Chairman

The EFCC has assured the public that the allegations will be thoroughly investigated and the findings made public. If proven true, these allegations would undermine the EFCC’s integrity and anti-corruption efforts.

Oyewale stated that the commission has been at the forefront of combating financial crimes in Nigeria and reaffirmed its commitment to its core values of integrity, courage, professionalism, and collaboration.
