NAHCON Confirms 2025 Hajj Refunds Settled, Focus Shifts to 2026 Preparations
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) says all 2025 Hajj refunds have been fully reconciled. Focus now shifts to 2026 preparations, with a call for early payment of Hajj fares to secure services in Makkah and Madinah.
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has assured that all financial matters concerning the 2025 Hajj, including pilgrims’ refunds, have been fully reconciled and settled.
This was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by the commission’s Principal Information Officer, Malam Shafii Mohammed.
Mohammed dismissed reports suggesting that preparations for the 2026 Hajj were being delayed due to unresolved issues from the 2025 accounts.
According to him, 19 states that requested reconciliation of pilgrims’ refunds have been duly settled, while refunds from previous years have also been cleared — except for cases where some states are yet to formally initiate the process.
“With the reconciliation concluded, the commission is now focused on preparations for the 2026 Hajj,” he stated.
Mohammed emphasised the need for early payment of Hajj fares, in line with the operational calendar of the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. He explained that timely remittances would secure essential services in Makkah, Madinah, and the Mashā’ir, as well as safeguard Nigeria’s full participation in next year’s pilgrimage.
“NAHCON therefore calls on state Muslim pilgrims’ welfare boards, agencies, commissions, and licensed tour operators to remit Hajj fares promptly to avoid last-minute challenges,” he added.
