Nasarawa Police Deny Fulani Herdsmen Disrupted Church Crusade, Clarify Incident
Nasarawa State Police dismiss viral reports of herdsmen disrupting a church crusade in Agboda. Officials clarify a robbery incident occurred, no herdsmen involved, and urge public peace and vigilance.
The Nasarawa State Police Command has dismissed reports claiming Fulani herdsmen attacked a church crusade in Agboda community, Mararaba Udege, Nasarawa Local Government Area.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said, “The Command has taken note of publications circulating with the headline ‘Panic as Herdsmen Disrupt Nasarawa Crusade, Forcing Worshippers to Flee.’ These reports are false and do not reflect the true situation in Agboda Village.”
The police explained that on 24 November 2025, a motorcyclist was attacked by unknown assailants along a feeder road to Agboda Village. The victim sustained a machete injury, and his motorcycle was stolen. “Upon receiving the report, the DPO coordinated with local vigilantes and the suspects fled, abandoning the motorcycle, which was later recovered,” Nansel added.
Authorities confirmed that Daniel Ukpo, who recorded the viral video, is in police custody. He admitted that no herdsmen were involved and that the video misrepresented the actual robbery incident.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Mohammed, urged religious leaders to promote peace and avoid statements that could incite tension. The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, encouraging residents to report suspicious activities promptly.
