Relations between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) and Senate President Godswill Akpabio appear to be improving as the Kogi lawmaker has formally invited Akpabio to attend a project commissioning ceremony in her senatorial district.

The invitation, which also extends to other members of the Senate, was conveyed through a letter personally signed by Akpoti-Uduaghan and read by Akpabio during plenary. The commissioning event is scheduled for Sunday in Ihima, Kogi State, as part of activities marking her second anniversary in the Senate.

“In marking my second-year anniversary as serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite fellow Distinguished Senators to join me for projects commissioning in Kogi State,” the letter read.

According to the letter, the meeting point for attendees will be Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene, Kogi State. Senators arriving by air were advised to use Obajana Airstrip before proceeding to Ihima by road.

After reading the invitation aloud, Senate President Akpabio congratulated his colleague, saying, “Congratulations in advance.”

The gesture marks a significant thaw in relations between the two senators following a tense standoff earlier in the year. The rift began after a dispute over Senate seat reallocation in February, which culminated in Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension on March 6.

Since her return to the Senate on September 24, the Kogi lawmaker has gradually re-engaged with Akpabio during plenary sessions, contributing to legislative debates — including the Criminal Code Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025.

Her latest invitation, however, stands out as the most visible sign of reconciliation with the Senate leadership to date.
