NDLEA Nabs Drug Kingpin, Seizes Large Consignment of Loud, Colorado in Ekiti
This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday in Abuja by the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, who described the haul as the single largest seizure of the two illicit substances.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a drug kingpin in Ekiti with a significant consignment of Loud and Colorado, two potent strains of cannabis.
This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday in Abuja by the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, who described the haul as the single largest seizure of the two illicit substances.
According to him, on August 29, NDLEA operatives, acting on credible intelligence, stormed Nova Street, behind New Creation School in Ado-Ekiti, where they seized 5.3 kilogrammes of Loud and Colorado, along with 2.5 grammes of Methamphetamine from a 42-year-old drug kingpin identified as Ajayi, a.k.a. Atiku.
Babafemi further revealed that operatives on patrol along the Ewu-Auchi road in Etsako West LGA, Edo State, intercepted 64,250 opioid pills, mainly Tramadol, concealed in a commercial bus traveling from Onitsha, Anambra State, to Okene, Kogi State. A 36-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the consignment.
In another operation on August 27, two suspects aged 45 and 35 were apprehended during a raid at Queen Elizabeth Aponmun Reserved Camp in Ondo State, where 117.5kg of processed cannabis and seeds were recovered.
Similarly, in Lagos, NDLEA operatives recovered 164 kilogrammes of skunk from the hideout of a suspect in the Mushin area on Saturday, August 30.
Babafemi quoted NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, as commending the officers and men of the Lagos, Ekiti, Ondo, and Edo State commands for their successful operations.
Marwa also praised NDLEA commands nationwide for intensifying their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation programmes and advocacy efforts in communities across the country.
