Ndume Hails Nigerian Army for Restoring Peace in Kirawa, Borno
Senator Ali Ndume commends the Nigerian Army for swiftly restoring peace to Kirawa, Borno, after attacks, and urges a permanent military base in the area.
Abuja — Senator Ali Ndume (APC–Borno South) has applauded the Nigerian Army for its rapid and effective response to recent security breaches in Kirawa, a border community in Borno State.
In a statement issued Wednesday in Abuja, Ndume said the military’s prompt intervention helped restore order after insurgents attacked the community, burning homes, the district head’s palace, and a military barracks.
He praised the troops for their “courage and professionalism” in reclaiming the town, restoring confidence among residents, and facilitating their return. The senator also acknowledged the role of the 153 Task Force Battalion, which was deployed to stabilize the area.
Ndume urged the military authorities to establish a permanent base in Kirawa to prevent further attacks and enhance security coordination with Cameroonian forces along the border.
He further commended Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, for supporting the resettlement of displaced persons, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sustaining efforts to secure the Northeast.
“Security of lives and property is the first and paramount responsibility of any government, and the present administration continues to uphold this constitutional mandate,” Ndume stated.
