Senator Ned Nwoko has attributed the growing tension in his marriage to Nollywood actress Regina Daniels to what he described as her “struggle with drugs and alcohol abuse.”

The senator’s remarks followed a viral video showing Regina Daniels visibly distressed, lamenting alleged violence in her marriage.

In the video, the actress is heard saying, “In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my own house, I am a queen. Not again, I can’t stand the violence, it’s too much.”

The emotional clip sparked widespread concern on social media, especially after a man identified as Regina’s brother expressed outrage on Instagram, vowing to defend her.

Reacting to the controversy, Nwoko took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account to deny the allegations of domestic violence, insisting that his wife’s behaviour stemmed from substance abuse.

“Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem. She must continue her rehabilitation program, or I fear for her life and safety,” he wrote.

According to Nwoko, his repeated efforts to help Regina seek professional treatment have been met with resistance.

“The truth is, I have set a clear condition for her to accept rehab in Asokoro or outside Nigeria, especially Jordan, where she will not have access to drugs,” he explained.

The senator further alleged that the actress had recently exhibited violent behaviour, claiming she assaulted three domestic staff and damaged property within their home.

“She is the violent one here, slapping and hitting staff in the past 48 hours and destroying cars and windows for no just cause,” he said.

Nwoko also accused certain individuals of being connected to the alleged drug issue, naming them as “Sammy,” described as Regina’s “main drug supplier,” and another person he referred to as “the tiny evil devil called Ann.”

Reaffirming his stance, the lawmaker maintained that he had never been violent toward any of his wives and urged Regina to continue her rehabilitation.

“I have other wives, and none will ever accuse me of violence,” Nwoko added.

The development has drawn mixed reactions from the public, with many calling for transparency and others urging the couple to resolve their issues privately.
