Ned Nwoko: Regina Daniels Needs Rehab to Stay Alive and Raise Our Children
Senator Ned Nwoko says actress Regina Daniels must undergo rehabilitation for drug-related issues, citing alarming toxicology reports. He insists his goal is to keep her alive and healthy for their children, while denying assault allegations.
Senator Ned Nwoko has said his wife, Regina Daniels, must undergo rehabilitation for drug-related issues to safeguard her life and enable her to be in the right state of mind to raise their two children.
Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja, Nwoko explained that his position was based on “a series of alarming toxicology results” which revealed dangerous levels of harmful substances in her system.
According to the lawmaker, the 25-year-old actress’s personality had changed drastically in recent months, as she began exhibiting violent and destructive behavior accompanied by recurring health crises.
“I want her alive and healthy, not just for me, but for our children,” Nwoko said. “We have two young kids together, and they cannot fight for themselves. I’m going to fight for them by safeguarding their mother.”
He said his wife’s rehabilitation was necessary to ensure she stayed off drugs during treatment and recovered fully.
“Many people have died of drug overdose. If anything happens to her now, what will I tell her children tomorrow?
I have lived with this problem for eight good months, and on three occasions I had to carry her to Nizamiye Hospital unconscious from a drug overdose—you can go and verify it,” he added.
Presenting copies of her toxicology results, Nwoko alleged that some individuals close to his wife were discouraging her from seeking proper medical care, describing them as “her real enemies and the enemies of her children.”
He insisted that if her mother and family members doubted his claims, they should agree to an independent test.
“If her mother and those supporting her really want to prove me wrong, let them arrange for her to visit any toxicologist of their choice — I will pay. Even you interviewing me now can choose one, here or outside Nigeria, and let’s confirm,” he said.
Responding to social media backlash, Nwoko accused Regina’s siblings, particularly her brother Sammy, of negatively influencing her and fueling her addiction.
“Her brother and his friends have been the bad influence. I trusted them around her, but they exploited her resources to supply her with drugs, making her addicted. Each time we made progress, they sabotaged the process by smuggling in the same drugs she was trying to give up,” he stated.
The senator also condemned a recent claim by Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels, alleging that his late son died of a drug overdose in the UK.
“That is an inhuman attack on the dead,” he said. “No autopsy showed that my son died from drug-related complications.”
The couple’s marital crisis became public after Regina Daniels accused Nwoko of physical assault and announced that she was leaving the marriage.
However, Nwoko has denied the allegations, insisting that his wife’s behavior is linked to substance abuse, not domestic violence.
