NEMA distributes relief materials to Gaya & Ajingi flood victims of Kano state -By Abba Dukawa

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Thursday distributes relief items to victims of 2020 flood disaster in Malamawa village, Wudilawa ward of Gaya and other villages in Ajingi Local Government areas of Kano State.

The exercise was flagged off at Gaya local government Secretariat by the NEMA Territorial Coordinator Kano,Jigawa offices Malam Sanusi Ado, House of Representatives Member representing Ajingi, Gaya and Albasu Federal Constituency, Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya, Sale Jili Executive Secretary State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and chairman of Gaya council Hon Ahmad T Abdullahi

Some of the items distributed included 1102 blankets, 1102 mosquito nets, 1102 mattresses, 1102 bundles of zinc roofing sheets, 1102 bags of cement, packets of zinc nails and bags of “3’’ nails.

Mr Sunusi said distributes relief materials is based on-the-spot assessment of the flood affected areas both in Gaya and Ajingi local government areas respectively.

Speaking at the flagged off exercise Hon Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya said when visited the affected flood area in condolences visit last year pledging that he would ensure the Federal government comes to their aid with interventions.

Urged the victims to give credence to the federal government’s efforts to ameliorate the plights of affected by disasters adding that the relief materials would go a long way in providing succour to the victims and also task the beneficiaries to ensure proper use of the items.

Also spoken the Executive Secretary State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Sale Jili explained that the relief materials would go a long way in providing succour to the victims saying the state government would continue to partner with NEMA to reduce the impact of disasters in the state.
