“Nigeria Must Be Secure for Development to Thrive” – Air Chief Declares During Kebbi Visit
Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Mohammed Idris, who received the Air Chief, expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of the Air Force and other security agencies in keeping the state relatively stable despite the complex security challenges facing the North-West region.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has emphasized that national development is impossible without security, reaffirming the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) dedication to protecting lives and property across the country.
Speaking during an operational assessment visit to Kebbi State, Abubakar stressed the link between peace and progress, stating:
“Our commitment is clear: we will locate and root out all criminal elements threatening the peace and safety of law-abiding citizens. Nigeria must be secure for development to thrive. Protecting the lives and property of Nigerians remains a non-negotiable priority for the Nigerian Air Force.”
The statement was released on Sunday by NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
Abubakar highlighted Kebbi’s strategic importance due to its international borders with the Republics of Benin and Niger, and its vast rural landscapes, which he said necessitate “heightened security vigilance.”
“Kebbi shares international borders with the Republics of Benin and Niger and has vast rural terrains that demand heightened security vigilance,” he noted.
“What affects Kebbi affects the entire North-West, and by extension, the peace and stability of our nation.”
He also announced plans to intensify intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations across the state to counter emerging threats.
Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Mohammed Idris, who received the Air Chief, expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of the Air Force and other security agencies in keeping the state relatively stable despite the complex security challenges facing the North-West region.
Governor Idris noted that Kebbi’s relative peace is a direct result of the “vigilance and sacrifices of Nigeria’s security forces,” and pledged continued support from his administration to the Nigerian Air Force and all other security stakeholders.
“Despite emerging threats and a complex security environment in the North-West, Kebbi has remained largely peaceful. This is thanks to the tireless commitment of our security agencies,” he said.
The visit underscores the military’s ongoing effort to secure Nigeria’s border communities and create a safe environment for economic growth and national development.
