Forest guards in Nigeria

It is a fact that criminals have developed new trend of criminality in Nigeria. It is therefore that Nigerian government must equally develop new strategy to counter this terrible and backward venture. Criminals have left township to forests for them to use for their criminalities.

Since Nigeria is blessed with vast land that is covered with wild forests that are free from wild animals, reptiles and free for accessible movements of lighter vehicles like motor cycles. This provides easy opportunity for banditry and kidnappings for ransom activities to thrive in Nigeria especially in North West and North Central parts of Nigeria.

Therefore, as the Federal Government has Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force and Nigerian Navy of which each of these serves to protect:

ii- Our Air safety by the Nigerian Air Force.

iii- Our waters by the Nigerian Navy.

Then the new fourth one should be:

iv- Forestry Squad Force to protect our forests from being taken over by these miscreants.

This new Force must be distinct from other security organs of Nigeria. It must be well equipped with sufficient manpower and equipment. It must also have full command with head to be designated as Forest Squad Commandant-General.

If Federal and State Governments can come together with National Assembly and create this essential Squad it will resolve many criminal activities of bandits and kidnappers and Cattle Rustlers across Nigeria.

In addition it will settle the unending call for State Police and reduce the proliferation of the present series of voluntary security outfits such as Omotekun, Hunters Organs and the rest. No suggestion is small. But hope our Leaders should give due consideration to this for the interest of Nigerians.
