Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have advanced to the Round of 16 at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile after holding Colombia to a 1–1 draw in Talca on Monday.

Kener Gonzalez put Colombia ahead in the 51st minute, but Nigeria equalised late when captain Daniel Bameyi converted from the spot after Tahir Maigana’s shot was handled in the area.

Goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt kept Nigeria in the game with key saves, while Maigana, Kparobo Arierhi, and Suleman Sani all threatened to score.

The draw sets up a blockbuster Round of 16 clash with Argentina on Wednesday at Santiago’s Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos — a repeat of last year’s quarter-final, where Nigeria triumphed 2–0.

Elsewhere, Norway confirmed their place in the knockouts following a 1–1 draw with Saudi Arabia.
