Nigeria XI vs Morocco: Onyedika Steps In as Ndidi Misses, Osimhen to Captain Super Eagles
Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle names Nigeria XI for the AFCON 2025 semi-final against Morocco. Onyedika replaces Ndidi in midfield, while Osimhen leads as captain. Both teams aim for a place in the final.
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has announced Nigeria’s starting lineup ahead of their crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final clash against hosts Morocco.
Stanley Nwabali will guard the goal, while Bright Osayi-Samuel, Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, and Bruno Onyemeachi form the defensive backline.
In midfield, Raphael Onyedika replaces Wilfred Ndidi, pairing with Frank Onyeka and Alex Iwobi to combine grit, energy, and creativity.
Upfront, Victor Osimhen will captain the side alongside Ademola Lookman, supported by Akor Adams, as Nigeria aims to secure a place in the AFCON final.
“All eyes are on Rabat as two African football powerhouses clash in what promises to be one of the tournament’s defining matches,” Chelle remarked.
Nigeria have been impressive throughout the competition, with Osimhen and Lookman key to their attacking strength. Morocco, meanwhile, remain unbeaten and face immense pressure to deliver the AFCON trophy on home soil. Led by stars like Achraf Hakimi and Brahim Diaz, the Atlas Lions are chasing their second continental title, their first since 1976.
