The Nigerian Association of Auctioneers (NAA) has established a National Task Force Committee to sanitize the auction industry and clamp down on unauthorized operations across the country.
In a statement released by the association’s National Caretaker and Electoral Committee, the group announced the appointment of David Omeike as Chairman of the new enforcement body. The task force will “enforce compliance with the NAA constitution, code of conduct, and operational guidelines and ensure only duly registered and licensed auctioneers operate in Nigeria.”
The committee’s broad mandate includes:
-
Monitoring and preventing illegal auction activities
-
Eliminating sharp practices in the sector

Collaborating with law enforcement and regulatory agencies

Omeike brings extensive credentials to the role, including:

This initiative forms part of broader reforms spearheaded by the NAA Board of Trustees, chaired by Alfred Diette-Spiff – the association’s first NEC president – to professionalize Nigeria’s auction sector in alignment with global standards. The move aims to restore credibility and eliminate fraudulent operators from the industry.
