Nigerian Freedom -By Shamsuddeen Suleiman Malami

The Nigeria we are today has directly changed the perspective of our ancestors. They always believed that Nigeria will one day be among the developed and peaceful countries in the world. Not even them, but even the colonialists knew that Nigeria has a lot of resources that can make her to compete with other developed countries. And yet, we are still developing.

Nigeria independence

There was a time when we were dependent. There was a time when we used to bow to foreigners. There was a time when our country lived in anarchy. There was a time, we were slaves. No one wished to be the victims but our late great grand parents were present.

Colonialism, an era of ruling others by imposing force, an act of dominance in a society.

My dear Black nation, a country blessed with economically resources, fertile lands, mineral resources was once colonised by the British.

At a time, the white people discovered this blessed land of Black people. They then overpowered them with their forces and finally made everyone to succumb to their wishes and respect their way of leadership.

The Blacks struggles day and night to retain our independence. They faced so many obstacles and tribulations along the line. At last, we were vindicated.

Nationalists like Sir- Abubakar Tabawa Balewa, Nnamdi Azikwe, Sir Ahmad Bello Sardauna and lots more played a major role in these processes of independence. May their souls rest in peace.

As the election is approaching, I believe Nigerians are now wise enough to know whom to vote for. Let’s vote wisely and make our country whole again.

As we mark the independence day, I pray that Nigeria and Nigerians will succeed, and may God make our country whole and peaceful again. Blessings will soon reach us, Ameen
