The Nigerian government has expressed its desire to hold a dialogue with the diaspora community abroad amidst the planned protests by various groups. The planned protests are against the worsening security situation, perceived corruption in the government, and the call for the resignation of the government.

The Nigerian government has recognized the importance of engaging the diaspora community, which it considers a valuable source of remittances to the Nigerian economy. The government believes that engaging the diaspora community will help in addressing some of the challenges facing the country.

However, some members of the diaspora community have expressed skepticism about the government’s intentions to hold a dialogue. They argue that the government has not done enough to address their concerns and that the planned protest is a legitimate expression of their grievances.

There is also the concern that the government may use the dialogue as a means of co-opting or placating the diaspora community, without making any real efforts to address the issues raised.

While dialogue with the diaspora community is a welcome development, it should not be used as a tactic to impede or discourage peaceful protests. The Nigerian government needs to take urgent steps to address the concerns of the protesters and work towards creating an environment that allows for constructive engagement and dialogue. This would help in enhancing democratic governance and deepening trust between the government and the people.
