Nigerian Troops Kill Dozens, Arrest 120 Criminals, Rescue 41 Kidnap Victims in One Week – DHQ
The Defence Headquarters reports that Nigerian troops neutralised dozens of terrorists, arrested 120 criminals, and rescued 41 kidnapped victims between Sept. 14–22 across the North East, North West, North Central, South South, and South East.
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on Thursday announced that troops across different theatres of operation neutralised dozens of terrorists, arrested at least 120 criminals, and rescued 41 kidnapped victims within one week.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja, covering operations conducted between September 14 and September 22 in the North East, North West, North Central, South South, and South East.
In the North East, Kangye said troops of Operation Hadin Kai killed several Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states, arrested 26 terrorist collaborators, and freed three kidnap victims.
In the North West, troops under Operation Fansan Yamma eliminated terrorists across Kaduna, Zamfara, Katsina, Kebbi, and Sokoto states, rescuing 14 kidnapped persons. A notorious terrorist, Mallam Abubakar Ahmadu, was captured alongside six others.
For Plateau and Kaduna, Kangye revealed that troops of Operation Enduring Peace arrested 52 criminals, engaged terrorists in firefights, and rescued nine kidnapped victims.
In Benue, Taraba, Kogi, Nasarawa, and the FCT, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke killed several criminals, apprehended 17—including a high-profile kidnapper, Saawuan Wuaiyolna—and rescued eight victims.
In the South-South, Operation Delta Safe troops foiled oil theft worth ₦19.75 million, dismantled 16 illegal refining sites, arrested 19 suspects, and rescued five kidnap victims.
Meanwhile, in the South-East, Operation Udo Ka forces killed several criminals, arrested six suspects, rescued three kidnapped victims, and seized weapons, vehicles, and IED materials.
Maj.-Gen. Kangye praised the resilience and professionalism of the troops and urged citizens to support the armed forces with timely, credible intelligence.
