NJC endorses Wike’s wife for Court of Appeal, Ariwoola’s daughter-in-law for high court

The wife of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Justice Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, has received a promotion recommendation to the Appeal Court from the National Judicial Council.

Apart from that, Suzzette, the former first lady of Rivers State, was one of the twenty-one people suggested for the appellate court.

At the Rivers State High Court, she is a Justice at the moment.

Similarly, Oluwakemi Victoria Ariwoola, the Nigerian Chief Justice Olukayode Ariwoola’s daughter-in-law, was taken into consideration for one of the twelve judges to be promoted to the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Suzzette and Victoria are among the 86 judges listed for recommendation by the Interview Committee on Appointment of Judicial Officers of all Superior Courts of Record in Nigeria.

A statement from the council stated that the recommendation came under the National Judicial Council, during its 105th plenary meeting held between May 15 and 16, 2024.

“All recommended candidates are expected to be sworn in after the approval of the NJC recommendations to the President and their respective State Governors,” said the council’s Director of Information, Soji Oye, in a statement dated May 16, 2024.
