The Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders Discussion Forum has raised concern over rising political tensions in parts of the North, particularly in Kebbi State, and has appealed to security agencies to safeguard peace and stability.

Speaking at a press conference held Thursday at Arewa House, Kaduna, the Forum’s Director of Media and Public Affairs, Muhammad Isah Imam, cautioned that the region is already grappling with serious security challenges and cannot afford further disruption triggered by political activities.

He called on political actors and their supporters to act responsibly and conduct their campaigns peacefully, stressing the importance of preserving stability as the next election cycle draws closer.

While reaffirming the rights of individuals and groups to freedom of association and expression, the Forum underscored that such rights must be exercised without endangering public safety or peace.

It urged security agencies, political leaders, and stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring Kebbi and other Northern states remain peaceful in the lead-up to the elections.
