Tennis legend Novak Djokovic captured the 101st title of his illustrious career after rallying to defeat Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the Athens Open final on Saturday.

With the victory, Djokovic joins an elite trio of players to surpass the 100-title milestone, alongside Roger Federer (103) and all-time record holder Jimmy Connors (109).

At 38 years and five months old, the 24-time Grand Slam champion also became the oldest ATP tournament winner since Australian great Ken Rosewall, who lifted a title in Hong Kong in 1977 at the age of 43.

The triumph marks Djokovic’s second title of 2025, following his earlier success on the clay courts of Geneva in May.

The match carried extra stakes for Musetti, who needed to win the Athens crown to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin. His loss, however, opened the door for Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime to claim the eighth and final spot in the prestigious year-end event.

Djokovic, already qualified for the ATP Finals, had kept fans in suspense about his participation until earlier this week, when he confirmed he would compete.
