National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has officially handed over 128 kidnap victims rescued from Zamfara State to their families during a ceremony in Abuja.
The group of victims — including men, women, and children — were freed in two separate security operations carried out in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State. Ribadu commended the efforts of the security forces and emphasized the government’s commitment to pursuing justice.
“These criminals will be hunted down and brought to justice,” Ribadu stated, while also urging for national unity in addressing insecurity: “Let us take politics out of security challenges.”
Addressing the victims’ well-being, Ribadu assured that they would receive trauma care and assistance to reintegrate into their communities.
Providing additional context, the National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre, Major General Adamu Laka, revealed that one child among the rescued died due to illness, while a premature baby born during the operation is currently receiving care in an incubator.
