NSCDC Operatives Arrest Drug Dealer, Burglar in Kano
In a separate operation, NSCDC operatives arrested 22-year-old Muhammad Abbas in Gurungawa, Kumbotso Local Government Area, for alleged burglary and theft of valuable properties worth hundreds of thousands of naira.
Personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State have apprehended two suspects involved in drug trafficking and burglary operations.
The arrests were confirmed in an official statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, and made available to The Punch on Wednesday.
“The NSCDC operatives have recorded another breakthrough in the fight against crime, following the arrest of two suspected criminals in separate operations,” he said.
According to the statement, the first suspect, 42-year-old Basiru Ahmed, was arrested in Salanta area of Gwale Local Government for alleged drug dealing.
“In the first operation, the NSCDC personnel apprehended a suspected drug dealer, Basiru Ahmed, 42 years at Salanta, Gwale local government area in possession of a quantity of substances believed to be Indian hemp (Cannabis sativa),” the statement added.
Abdullahi explained that Ahmed was caught red-handed following credible intelligence reports about his illegal activities in the community.
“The suspect, caught with over 106 parcels of Cannabis, has since been handed over to the state command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation and necessary legal action,” he said.
In a separate operation, NSCDC operatives arrested 22-year-old Muhammad Abbas in Gurungawa, Kumbotso Local Government Area, for alleged burglary and theft of valuable properties worth hundreds of thousands of naira.
“The suspect, who had been on the security watchlist for some time, was apprehended during a coordinated patrol aimed at curbing theft and other criminal activities in the area,” the statement added.
The NSCDC revealed that both suspects would be prosecuted upon completion of investigations. The command urged residents to remain security-conscious and report suspicious activities to security agencies promptly.
