The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Adamawa Command, has declared its readiness to step up security around Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) in the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Nyako Baba, conveyed the statement on Tuesday in Yola, quoting the State Commandant, Idris Bande.

Bande explained that the decision followed a recent meeting with the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) to the President. He emphasized that protecting vital infrastructure remains a core mandate of the Corps under its Amended Act of 2007.

He noted that threats such as terrorism, vandalism, cyberattacks, and insider collusion require an intelligence-driven and multi-agency approach.

According to him, security agencies at the meeting—including the military, police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), traditional institutions, community leaders, and private security operators—reaffirmed their commitment to joint responsibility under the NSCDC’s lead role.

Bande highlighted the importance of synergy through joint risk assessments, intelligence sharing, coordinated training, and avoidance of inter-agency rivalry.

He further stated that all arrests linked to power, telecommunications, and transportation infrastructure should be handed over to the NSCDC for prosecution, in line with NSA directives.

The commandant also called for the establishment of an inter-agency task force to strengthen operations in protecting vulnerable infrastructure.

He urged unity and collaboration among security stakeholders, stressing that such cooperation could serve as a model for effective security management in the state.
