The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has assured Yoruba nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, that he will step in to address his ongoing issues with the Federal Government.

The monarch gave the assurance during a private meeting at his Bodija residence in Ibadan, where he hosted Igboho and his supporters to discuss the activist’s ordeals and broader security challenges in the South West, including the rise of bandit activities in parts of Kwara State.

A statement from Igboho’s media office confirmed that the meeting, which lasted about 40 minutes on Monday, focused on finding solutions to insecurity and the activist’s face-off with the authorities. A source disclosed that Oba Ladoja promised to intervene in matters related to Igboho’s “wanted” status and the freezing of his bank accounts.

It will be recalled that under former President Muhammadu Buhari, Igboho was declared wanted over alleged stockpiling of arms. On July 1, 2021, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), supported by the Nigerian Army, stormed his Soka residence, killing two aides and arresting 13 others.

During the meeting, Igboho congratulated Oba Ladoja on his ascension to the throne, describing him as “a leader deeply loved by people across Ibadan, Yorubaland, and beyond.”

He also pledged readiness to work with the Federal Government to strengthen security in the South West. “Olubadan has been a father figure to me since his days as former governor of Oyo State. I commend Kabiyesi’s leadership qualities, humility, and enduring influence. His reign as Olubadan will no doubt further promote peace, unity, and development in Ibadanland and the entire Yorubaland,” Igboho said.
