Obama Celebrates 33rd Wedding Anniversary, Calls Michelle His ‘Best Decision’
Barack and Michelle Obama marked 33 years of marriage with sweet anniversary tributes. Michelle said she loves him “even more today,” while Barack called marrying her the “best decision” of his life.
Former U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary with affectionate messages that silenced long-running rumors of marital troubles.
The couple, who tied the knot in 1992, shared the same smiling selfie on social media to mark the milestone.
Michelle, 61, wrote: “We’ve been on quite the journey over the last 33 years — and yet, I love you even more today than the day we said ‘I do.’ Happy anniversary, @BarackObama! I’m so lucky to go through life with you.”
Barack, 64, praised his wife in return, saying: “The best decision I ever made was marrying you, @MichelleObama. For 33 years, I’ve admired your strength, grace, and determination — and the fact that you look so good doing it all. Happy anniversary!”
The Obamas, parents to daughters Malia, 27, and Sasha, 24, have often faced speculation about their marriage. Earlier this year, Michelle dismissed the rumors, stressing: “There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I thought about quitting my man.”
She acknowledged that while they had endured “really hard times,” they had also shared countless adventures, adding that she has become “a better person because of the man I’m married to.”
Their anniversary comes shortly after Michelle joked on her podcast about Barack’s eating habits, saying that sometimes the way he chews makes her want to “smack” him.
