Obiano Alive and Well, Former Commissioner Adinuba Debunks Death Rumour
Former Information Commissioner C. Don Adinuba has dismissed viral reports claiming ex-Anambra Governor Willie Obiano is dead, confirming he is alive, “hale and hearty,” and residing in the United States.
Former Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, is alive and in good health, despite viral social media rumours falsely claiming he had died.
His former Commissioner for Information, Mr. C. Don Adinuba, dismissed the reports on Friday, labelling them as baseless and misleading.
Adinuba said he had spoken directly with Obiano and confirmed that the former governor is “hale and hearty” and currently living in the United States—not the United Kingdom, as suggested by an online publication.
“Obiano has never lived in the United Kingdom. He lives in the United States of America. I just spoke with him now,” Adinuba said.
He urged the public to ignore the false claims, warning that such rumours create needless anxiety for Obiano’s family, associates and Anambra residents.
Obiano, who governed Anambra State from 2014 to 2022 after succeeding Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, was born on August 8, 1955, and hails from Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area.
