Ogun: FG Feeding Program Suffers Setback -By Kolade Adedeji

Information revealed that the aggregators are unhappy as the kickbacks collected by the Commissioner, despite the increasing price of food items in the market, ranges from 100 thousand naira and above from each aggregator. Since the aggregators are shortchanged, the telling effect has been on the students who are either unfed or under-fed which runs against the policy of the Federal Government that wants to boost the nutritional intakes of people and eradicate malnourishment among citizens.

The Federal Government’s homegrown feeding program for public Primary schools in Ogun State has suffered some setbacks as food vendors in Yewa South Local Government of the state down-toll due to what they describe as being underpaid from Abuja.

It was gathered that one of the food vendors was beaten to a pulp by her colleagues for daring to cook despite being warned that nobody should cook for the program in Yewa South Local Government until the underpayment issue is resolved. Finding has revealed that the Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Barr. Femi Ogunbanwo, could neither arrest the situation nor informed the  Governor due to his recent underground atrocities, as disclosed by some of the food vendors popularly known as Fish and Meat aggregators who have accused him of collecting kickback, in form of cash, from them under the guise of “service charge” to foster his political ambition.

Whereas out of the magnanimity of the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun GCFR,  who has been a great supporter of the programme by also funding the programme, the reprehensible attitude of the commissioner runs against the good intention of the Governor and the policy of the Federal Government.

If the Commissioner’s recent sinister activities continue unchecked, it will dent the image of the state and damage the intent of the Federal Government toward the creation of the feeding program
