Olufemi Ajadi Resigns from NNPP, Joins PDP to “Rebuild Nigeria’s Unity and Hope”
Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo has resigned from the NNPP and joined the PDP, calling it a strategic step to rebuild Nigeria’s unity, empower youth, and promote inclusive governance ahead of 2027.
Nigerian politician, businessman, and social reform advocate, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has officially resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the decision as “a strategic and patriotic step toward rebuilding Nigeria’s unity and hope.”
Ajadi announced his defection on Monday, November 10, 2025, during a press briefing where he presented copies of his resignation letter addressed to the NNPP Ward Chairman, Obafemi Owode Local Government Chairman, Ogun State Chairman, Southwest Chairman, and the National Chairman of the party.
Explaining his decision, Ajadi said it followed “deep reflection on Nigeria’s political direction and the need to align with a broader platform capable of driving genuine national transformation.”
“My decision to join the Peoples Democratic Party is both strategic and patriotic,” Ajadi stated. “I have great respect for the NNPP and what it stands for, but at this point in Nigeria’s history, I believe the PDP offers a wider and stronger platform for national reconciliation, youth empowerment, and true federalism.”
Ajadi, who was the NNPP governorship candidate in Ogun State during the 2023 elections—after stepping down as a presidential aspirant in support of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso—emphasized that his exit was not borne out of conflict.
“There is no bad blood between me and my former party,” he clarified. “I am grateful for the opportunity to have served under its banner. However, as Nigeria faces economic hardship, unemployment, and leadership challenges, it is time for like-minded patriots to close ranks and rebuild trust in governance.”
Political observers view Ajadi’s move as a strategic realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, potentially influencing future alliances in the South-West and beyond.
Beyond his political involvement, Ajadi is widely recognized for his humanitarian work through the Olufemi Ajadi Foundation, which has provided micro-grants, vocational training, and support for widows, artisans, and small-scale farmers. His advocacy consistently centers on youth inclusion, peace-building, press freedom, and civic accountability.
“Nigeria is at a crossroads,” he said. “We need leaders who can listen to the people and act selflessly. I am confident that my entry into the PDP will strengthen the party’s grassroots base and reawaken hope among ordinary Nigerians.”
PDP leaders in the South-West welcomed Ajadi’s defection, describing it as “a boost to the PDP’s democratic family,” and commending his integrity, youth engagement, and social impact.
Reaffirming his commitment to public service, Ajadi pledged to work with PDP leaders across all levels to promote transparency, peace, and inclusive governance.
“This is not just about party politics,” he added. “It is about rekindling Nigerians’ faith in democracy and ensuring they feel the real dividends of good governance.”
