Omoyele Sowore And Olawale Bakare: #RevolutionNow Is Activism Without Wisdom -By Isaiah Ogedegbe

Why would Bakare who was arrested last year and later released on bail, allow himself to be rearrested for same wrong reason? Why would he not hold his peace and allow the Court to decide the matter?

Omoyele Sowore and his Revolution Now partner, Olawale Bakare are two Nigerian activists who seem to display lack of wisdom in their recent activism. Their planned protest tagged RevolutionNow led to their arrest one year ago. While Bakare was arrested by the Department of Secret Service on August 4, 2019, Sowore was also arrested the next day on August 5, 2019. Though both of them had been released on bail after months of legal battle, the case is still in Court till date.

However, just yesterday, I heard that Bakare had been rearrested by the DSS when staging a protest in Osogbo with members of the RevolutionNow. I began to ask myself: Why would Bakare who was arrested last year and later released on bail, allow himself to be rearrested for same wrong reason? Why would he not hold his peace and allow the Court to decide the matter? His decision to protest was not a wise one. It appears that the only thing that matters to the political activists is revolution; revolution is no solution to Nigeria’s problems.
