Open Letter To The Oyo State Government And The Amotekun Board Of Governance -By Segun Adebowale

I was flabbergasted and highly disappointed in the administration of the Oyo State Government that the authority constituted to lead and monitor the affairs of the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun) for effectiveness are grossly performing woefully in the state. A State, without doubt and scorn, that is having intellectual people like professors, Teachers, engineers, Doctors, ex-serviceman, retired police and just mention any profession in life, Oyo State is at the fore-front. Isn’t it ridiculous that the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun) could not have a functional Public Relation Officer or Publicity Secretary who will from time to time project the image of the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun) and debunk beyond public reasonable doubt that all findings that have carried out so far on the operation, organization and personnel development of the Oyo State Amotekun operatives. But the Security Network Agency (Amotekun) can boast of having a power drunk State Commandant, who at will can decide the disorderly manner of directing the affairs of a State own Security Network and discard all useful and progressive plan and move from all angles that is not OPC oriented. Likewise, it disheartened that non of intellects that Oyo State is blessed with deem it fit to make more findings on all problems addressed so far, so as to suggest more and effective solutions to the administrative problems confronting the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun).

The Oyo State Amotekun commandant is so strong to the extent of single handedly administering a second phase of traditional oath taken, which was not done for him when he was given the mantle of leadership in the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun). This traditional oath taken is done so as to commit all operatives never to divulge information about his ill-adminitration and abuse of power in the State Security Network Agency (Amotekun).

Taking expediency above moral principalities is one instruments that Colonel (rted) Olayinka Olayaju believe in most as an effective tool to drive the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun) and its operatives to an abrupt and distructive end in the midst of other Southwest states of the Nation.

Colonel Olayinka Olayaju is being expediency in the sense that he never ready to welcome any other person’s ideas in promoting, developing and standardizing the activities and affairs of the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun) to a world view security standard, that is why Odua People’s Congress (OPC) are being used as operation leaders, coordinators and 2ic in most of the 33 Local Government Area of the State and 2ic at the Amotekun’s State headquarters. Though, this mission was unable to accomplish in few selected Local Government councils of the state, simply because one of the LGs is catchment area for the Board chairman General (rted) Kunle Toogun. Mr Colonel Olayinka Olayaju which Local Government is your catchment area? And you could not use OPC members in the other LGA because their level of illiterate is highly pronounced or no OPC members among the operatives.

It is expediency of you to use voting system, though you are not being truthful, to appoint who to lead across the 33 LGA of Oyo State rather than using moral and standard principle of professional qualifications for all your operatives.

Another instance where you exhibit expediency syndrome is that you just given order according to the dictate of your psychological status which mostly is not favourable and progressive but because of the principle of “obey the last command” people and operatives around you dogmatically carried out your unprofessional order, under the fear of “l don’t want to loss this job” You are having eyes service officers, who cannot but carry out your order just to earn their living. You never allow other’s opinions to prevail simply because you are eye ball (eyin loju) of His Excellency, Eng Seyi Makinde.

Allowing Brain-storming and rubbing of mind together for effective and progressive decisions in Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun) is you greatest weakness. Please, adjust for better administration in the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun). Forget not that two good heads are better one.

Your poor attitude and attendance to me before l pick-up my has divulged a lot of information about your ways of administration in the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun) do not force your operatives to do that (traditional oath taken) which was not done to you when the mantle of the Oyo State Amotekun leadership was given to you by our erudite governor. Or do you want to tell the Oyo State citizens that all what you are doing or the way you are operating conform to standard operation of public service rules with standard security architect of world standard? And your actions and in-actions are not influence by OPC agenda?

Several security consultants, professional bodies and individual even the Amotekun’s board of governance have advanced and suggested to you ways forward in the administration of the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun) you never listened. How egocentric and rigid are you?

The structuralisation of the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun), when it done, can only benefit me by connecting me to the Amotekun’s PROs and other legimate source of information on the activities of the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun).

Mr commandant and the Oyo State Government, insinuation is one of your basis for the on-going traditional Oaths taken, your defiant refusal to allow professionalism in the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun) as it is done especially in Ondo State and other Southwest States, is the principal source of information for my write-up.

You and the Amotekun Board of governance are advice to call on all well meaning retired Police, experienced ex-miltary men, the appropriate and retired Justice and security expert consultants to come together and make the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun) a standard security outfit like the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun).

Until when this structure and standard are put in place, my pen shall seized not to function in agitating for the professionalism in the affairs and administration of the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun).
