OpenAI Introduces ChatGPT App Integration with Spotify, Booking.com, and More
OpenAI unveils a new ChatGPT feature that connects the AI with apps like Spotify, Booking.com, and Zillow, enabling users to perform real-world tasks directly through chat.
OpenAI on Monday introduced a major new feature for ChatGPT, its flagship generative AI platform now boasting over 800 million weekly users. The feature enables the chatbot to interact directly with popular everyday apps such as Spotify and Booking.com.
Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman made the announcement before a packed audience of developers at OpenAI’s annual Developer Day event in San Francisco.
The new tool, known as Apps SDK, allows ChatGPT to seamlessly connect with third-party apps for activities such as creating playlists, searching for properties, or exploring travel options like hotel and flight bookings.
OpenAI’s initial launch partners include Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Figma, Expedia, Spotify, and Zillow, whose integrations became available on Monday in markets where their services operate. Additional partners — including Uber, AllTrails, and DoorDash — are expected to join later this year.
However, the new functionality is not yet available in Europe due to stricter regulatory requirements surrounding data-heavy AI systems.
The update represents a significant evolution of ChatGPT, merging conversational AI with interactive app features like maps and playlists.
Users can now issue natural commands such as, “Spotify, make a playlist for my party this Friday,” allowing the streaming service to act directly within ChatGPT.
The AI assistant can also proactively suggest relevant apps. For instance, when a user talks about buying a house, ChatGPT can invoke Zillow to show listings that match their budget on an interactive map inside the chat interface.
