Pakistan has legislation to regulate organ transplantation and combat organ trafficking. The Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Ordinance, 2007 prohibits organ trade and organ trafficking and set penalties for illegal activities. Basically this law aims to protect the rights of donors and recipients.

The process of surgically expel organs or tissues from an alive or deceased person, known as the donor for immigrate or transplantation into another person, known as the recipient. In Pakistan, organ donation is a complicated issue with many aspects to consider.
Living donation and deceased donation are the two methods of organ donation. Living donation is called voluntary donation. It is a transplantation of organs or tissues by a living person, typically a close friend, relative etc. While Deceased donation involves the donation of organs from individuals who have been declared dead or who have consented and volunteer to donate their organs upon death.
Organ transplantation in world is mainly focused on kidney and liver transplants. Possibilities in world is that kidney transplants are the most common because they can be performed from living or deceased donors while Liver transplants are more complicated because it require deceased donor organs due to the limited availability of living donors. In Living organ donation, especially kidney donation is a possibility in world. Family members, relatives, and even unknown individuals can donate organs to their loved ones. Deceased organ donation is also possible in world. wherein organs are retrieved from individuals who have pledged or consented to donate their organs upon death.
The presence of organ trafficking and illegal organ trade is the major threats in world. These threats create disputes in organ donation. The purchase and sale of organs are illegal. Such practices pose risks to both donors and recipients. Lack of awareness about organ donation and transplantation among the general public hinders the availability of organs for transplant. Misconceptions concerns may contribute to a lack of understanding toward organ donation.
