Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen delivered a stunning performance on Wednesday night, netting a hat-trick to inspire Galatasaray to a commanding 3–0 victory over Ajax at the Johan Cruijff ArenA in the UEFA Champions League.

The Nigerian forward, who entered the match with three goals in the competition, now tops the Champions League scoring chart with six goals this season — following earlier strikes against Bodo/Glimt and Liverpool.

After a tense first half, Osimhen broke the deadlock in the 59th minute, diving to head home Leroy Sané’s precise cross.

Just minutes later, he doubled Galatasaray’s advantage from the penalty spot after a VAR review confirmed a handball by Youri Baas. The 25-year-old forward made no mistake, sending goalkeeper Remko Pasveer the wrong way.

Osimhen completed his hat-trick in the 78th minute, calmly converting a second penalty after another Ajax handball, this time by substitute Gerald Alders.

The emphatic result marks Galatasaray’s biggest European win of the season, moving the Turkish champions to nine points from four games — their best-ever start in a Champions League campaign and a strong position for qualification to the Round of 16.

Ajax, meanwhile, remain rooted to the bottom of the group with four straight losses, as their dismal European run continues.

Galatasaray will next face Union Saint-Gilloise, while Ajax will look for their first victory of the campaign against Jose Mourinho’s Benfica.

Osimhen’s treble also etches his name in club history, making him only the second Galatasaray player to score a Champions League hat-trick, after Burak Yilmaz’s memorable feat in 2012.
