Osimhen, Lookman Lead 19-Man Super Eagles Squad to South Africa for 2026 World Cup Qualifier
Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and 17 other Super Eagles players have arrived in Polokwane, South Africa, ahead of Nigeria’s must-win 2026 World Cup qualifier against Lesotho. The match takes place on Friday.
A total of 19 Super Eagles players have reported to camp in Polokwane, South Africa, as Nigeria intensifies preparations for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Lesotho.
The players arrived a day after the technical crew and backroom staff officially set up the team’s base on Monday.
Among those already in camp are African Player of the Year Ademola Lookman, star striker Victor Osimhen, and forward Chrisantus Uche. Others include William Troost-Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Terem Moffi, Moses Simon, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Frank Onyeka, and Tolu Arokodare.
Goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali, Adebayo Adeleye, and Amas Obasogie have also joined up, alongside returnee defender Semi Ajayi.
Nigeria currently sit third in Group C of the CAF World Cup qualifying series with 11 points from eight matches. The Super Eagles must win their final two fixtures and rely on favorable results from group rivals South Africa and Benin Republic to keep their qualification hopes alive.
The crucial clash against Lesotho is scheduled for Friday in Polokwane, as the three-time African champions aim to secure a decisive victory.
