Osun 2026: Accord Party Alleges APC Plot to Disrupt Party Primaries
The Accord Party in Osun State alleges that APC is plotting a parallel primary to undermine Governor Ademola Adeleke’s candidacy for the 2026 governorship election. Party warns authorities to prevent disruption.
The Accord Party in Osun State has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of plotting a parallel primary to undermine the party following Governor Ademola Adeleke’s emergence as its candidate for the 2026 Osun Governorship election.
Pastor Victor Akande, Osun State Chairman of Accord Party, claimed that the move is aimed at creating “disunity, confusion, and chaos” in the state. He stated, “This latest gimmick is yet another ploy by APC, a party that seems to be in total disarray given the overwhelming acceptance, popularity, and goodwill that Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke (Imole) enjoys among the good people of Osun State, especially with his declaration and affiliation with the Accord.”
Akande alleged that APC is sponsoring one of its members to pose as an Accord Party aspirant to trigger a crisis. He emphasized that only processes recognized by the national leadership of Accord Party are valid, adding, “Any primary or aspirant outside of this is invalid, null, and void.” He also called on security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and other authorities to monitor the situation to prevent disruption of public peace.
In response, APC’s Director of Media, Chief Kola Olabisi, dismissed the claims, stating, “We are not concerned with the infighting of other parties. We held our primary Saturday and successfully picked our candidate. We are not aware of any other political party primary.”
The Accord Party’s allegations come after a faction within the party questioned the legitimacy of its national leadership under Barrister Maxwell Ngbudem, following Adeleke’s emergence as the governorship candidate.
